One Sky Homes achieves German PassivHaus Institute certification

One Sky Homes building designer and principal, Allen Gilliland, was recently awarded the pretigious international Certified Passive House Consultant certification from the PassivHaus Institute in Darmstadt, Germany.

Gilliland began learning about the European Passive House building standard in early 2009 during design of the Cottle Zero Energy Home, and began the rigorous consultants' training and certification program in 2010 through the Passive House Institute U.S. Gilliland has attended two national Passive House conferences and more recently the international PH conference in Innsbruck, Austria in May 2011.

Gilliland took the rigorous German Passive House Designers' exam and has been officially certified as a PH designer and consultant by both the PassivHaus Institute in Darmstadt, Germany and by the Passive House Institute U.S. in Champaign, Illinois. Gilliland is one of only two internationally-certified PH consultants in California.
